Art Restoration versus Conservation
by Sierra Sparks on 11/21/20Art restoration and conservation can be a bit different. When one is restoring art you are repairing it back to as close to original form as you can. This entails very intensive and specific interventions that are reversible. Conservation is a process of keeping the art preserved. There are many ways of conserving art. One, is through protective measures such as archival framing or varnishing. Others are through using processes to prevent further damage (like in the case of mold).
